Rereading is not enough: how to really remember

Understand with the summary, connect with the map, remember with flashcards, check with the quiz.

Understand: the summary

You start from a text you read once, actively. Every chapter of the set has its own summary, with the important points in bold: those are the ones you will need later.

Connect: the map

The map shows how concepts depend on each other. Trying to redraw it from memory, or to correct it, tells you what you have not connected yet.

Remember: flashcards

You say whether you knew it. Hard cards come back soon, the others after 1, 3, 7 days and beyond: you review little, but at the right moments.

Check: the quiz

At the end of a round you repeat only the wrong questions, until you know them all. It is the fastest way to find the gaps before the exam.
